Abrams’ “Lost” had an almost completely different cast

Narrative

As survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island, J.J. Find out which celebrities missed out on one of the most popular TV series of all time. Sawyer’s character was originally intended to be a smart, suit-wearing con man from Buffalo, New York. However, when Josh Holloway forgot a line in his audition and later kicked a chair in frustration and cursed loudly, the writers liked the twist he brought to Sawyer’s character and decided to write Sawyer as a darker, Southern drifter. Jin and Sun are married and share the last name “Kwon,” which becomes a major plot point in the final season.

Changed in Lost: The Journey (2005)

However, when Koreans get married, the wife never takes the husband’s last name. In fact, in Korea, it’s not even allowed to marry someone with the same last name, except in rare circumstances. [repeated phrase] Desmond Hume: See you in another life, bro. The bizarre opening credits were designed by J.J. Abrams on his laptop in black and white, as an homage to The Twilight Zone.

It’s a legitimate concern, but in the case of “Lost,” it’s completely unwarranted

At first glance, “Lost” seems like an impossible concept: a group of people stranded on a mysterious island. How many story lines can you, POS, take from that before the idea is completely hollowed out? “Lost,” unlike many shows today where the plot drives the characters, is actually the opposite: the characters drive the plot. This is not “CSI” or “Law & Order,” where every week is a variation on the same theme. In “Lost,” you have a fascinating, diverse, and tragically flawed group of characters who must somehow learn to survive together while trying to keep their secrets hidden.

Yes, there are mysterious events

That’s a recipe for disaster. After living together for a long time, the characters will discover that it’s impossible to keep their pasts a secret. Yes, there’s a monster on the island. Yes, a sense of dread often hangs in the air. But to me, the external problems that the island itself presents are NOTHING compared to the INTERNAL problems that the characters have to face, both with themselves and with each other.

And it’s fascinating to watch

That’s where the real drama lies.
